In this review we have used 2 of the Parmaris lifejackets The raider
and the high-fit both these life jackets are manual Gas inflate life-jackets this means they will not inflate unless you
pull the inflation cord which in turn triggers the gas canister and inflates the life-jackets One of the reasons we were
so keen to try out the parmaris life-jackets was a few people have expressed how bulky they sometimes feel wearing a pfd and
that sometimes the pfd keeps a lot of heat in and makes them feel a little sickly at times So this is my first impressions
of the raider and high-fit life-jackets.
First of all this is the raider note how little clutter there is on the
wearer which allows for a lot more movement and freedom while it is being used
In this picture you can see just how comfortable the wearer is while wearing
the life-jacket through his ease of movement
The life-jacket is secured via a locking clasp a bit like a car seat belt
so it can not come un-done by accident it has to be physically opened by depressing the red realise button this makes it easy
and quick to put on and holds it very securely to the wearer
On the rear of the life-jacket is a retaining strap this holds the collar
of the jacket snugly to your back
We decided to pull the realise cord and inflate the life-jacket The
full inflation of the jacket took about 2/3 seconds
Note the solas reflective tape and Manuel inflation tube on the activated
jacket A safety whistle is also included with the jacket . It was very comfortable to wear even when inflated no rubbing
was found at all
The beauty of a life-jacket is it will turn you face up in the water In this
photograph you can see how the inflated jacket keeps the head cradled and above water
Clearly seen here is the manual inflation tube this can be used to inflate
the life-jacket by mouth it has a special top which incorporates a valve realise pin so you can deflate the jacket quickly
after use
This is the high-fit which is smaller in size
Again the rear retaining belt keeps everything neat and tidy
Note the inflation pull cord within easy reach and the plastic end on it
this means while in the water wet and cold without looking you can still pull the cord to inflate the jacket
We found the parmaris life-jackets to be excellent they are made to the highest
standards using only the best possible materials they feel very comfortable and offer a lot more freedom of movement than
a traditional pfd not to mention the extra safety aspects. While fishing you do not know you are wearing it on the day
we tested these jackets it was hot and humid but with the extra freedom of the jackets I felt very comfortable After the
tests I re-armed and repacked the jackets it took about 4/5 mins to do I found it very easy to re-pack ready for the next
session. Both the jackets in our review cost less than £38.00 each They can be bought from cheaplifejackets.co.uk
