I Started off with a standard Tarpon 100
Made a template for the flush mountso (Bought from
H20 - £5 each) . Marked out the holes, drill and open out to shape.
make a gasket/seal for the back to compensate for the curve of the surface.
Put flush mount in place. Drill for rivets. put silicone on the back of the rod mount and rivet with extra long rivets supplied
again from H2o .
Mark the console for a scottie type rod holder and drill to suit.
For a rod holder of this type it is recomended to make a backplate so the
screws wont pull through the plastic of the yak. Also these come with a hole streight through so you must blank off the back
of the hole.
To fasten this down i countersunk the holes and fastened it down using a gasket, silicone sealer and stainless
steel bolts.
I fitted this rod holder because it is one of the few that will hold a fly rod.
I also fitted an anchor trolley. the tarpon100 Yak now ready to fish.
The Tarpin 100 Should be ideal to use for bay hopping,
Fly fishing and spinning for bass. This makes a 10 ft kayak a lot more versatile.
