Fitting an in hull transducer First up mark where you are going to put the transducer inside the hull you need to be able to get at it just
in case you remove it when changing or up-grading your kayak A location to the rear of the front hatch is a
good place but remember if you put your trolley in the front hatch you need to leave enough space so it does not catch your
transducer

| Fitting an in hull transducer |
The hull is marked and now really give it a
good roughing up with some course sandpaper all over this will help the silicone grip and not fall off
Next up tidying all the wires these are mostly
from the transducer garmin use a small waterproof plug in the middle of the cable but they are still quite long so need tidying
up
All the wires were loosely wrapped around the
scupper hole inserts and cable tied in to position don’t wrap these cables tightly or they could damage your scupper
hole inserts keep them loose but tidy
With the hull sanded and wires tidied remove
the nozzle from the silicone using the nozzle can introduce air bubbles in the sealant you want a big smooth air free blob
there is about half a tube here
The transducer head is then carefully pressed in to place do not rotate it as you are fitting
it just press it straight down rotating the transducer may result in small air bubbles which will impair your transducers
accuracy
A 2lbs fishing bell weight is then put on top of the transducer
and the silicone is left to set for 24 hours to complete the job
